19 people died in a fire in a multi-story apartment building in New York, the Associated Press reported, citing a fire department source.

There are nine children among the victims of the fire. The fire took place in the Twin Park high-rise building in the north of the city in the Bronx area. 63 people were injured, 32 of them are in danger. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The fire broke out in a 19-storey apartment building on one of the lower floors. The door of the apartment, where the fire allegedly began, said the head of the New York City Fire Department, Daniel Nigro, was opened, which caused the fire and smoke to spread quickly. The second and third floors were engulfed in fire, but smoke rose to the next floors.
