The bill we have tabled refers to the families of people who, due to their rather young age, do not have a wife, children, as well as parents who died during the 2020 hostilities—defending their homeland. Hayk Sargsyan, an MP of the ruling Civil Contract Party, said this during Tuesday’s debates—at the meeting of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of Armenia—on the bill on amendments to the law on compensation for damage caused to the life or health of servicemen during the defense of the homeland.

The lawmaker added that the respective money—in the form of compensation—will be given to the brothers and sisters of these fallen soldiers. The matter is with respect to a total of 16 beneficiaries.

"Additional expenses will not be required from the state budget. All compensations will be paid from the means of the Compensation for Damage Caused to the Life or Health of Military Personnel fund," Sargsyan explained.

After a relatively short debate, the bill was approved by the aforesaid parliamentary committee.
