Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried on January 11.

The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told NEWS.am that during their conversation, Mirzoyan and Donfried stressed the importance of a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs' mandate, as well as the need for a full resumption of work in this format. They also discussed humanitarian issues requiring urgent solutions.

Mirzoyan highlighted the statement of the Bureau for Europe and Eurasia of the U.S. Department of State on the liberation of prisoners of war, disclosure of the fates of missing persons, and the exchange of remains. He also informed about the recent ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and stressed the importance of implementing steps to de-escalate the situation.

The sides touched upon the dialogue process between Armenia and Turkey. During their conversation, they also discussed the situation in Kazakhstan. Mirzoyan presented the Armenian side's position on the issue. The sides also discussed regional and international security issues.
