Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family changed their place of residence due to the ongoing protests in the country against COVID restrictions, Canadian TV channel CBC News reported, citing sources, RIA Novosti reports.

"Amid security concerns, Trudeau and his family have moved from their home to an unnamed location in the nation's capital," the channel said.

Thousands of truckers and other protesters reportedly gathered at Parliament Hill in Ottawa to call for the cancellation of mandatory vaccinations and other restrictions related to the coronavirus. Organizers are urging the growing crowd to protest peacefully, and police are on high alert.

According to the channel, more people are expected to turn out downtown in the coming hours as truckers who initiated the action, as well as their supporters, leave assembly points in the eastern and western parts of Ottawa, heading for Parliament Hill.

It is said that the trucks, which had gathered on Wellington Street in front of Parliament buildings, are adorned with banners criticizing sanitation measures and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
