Israeli President Isaac Herzog departed on Sunday for his first-ever official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), TASS reported, citeing his office.

"For the first time ever, President Herzog left this morning for the United Arab Emirates on a presidential visit at the invitation of the de facto ruler of the UAE and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The president will visit Abu Dhabi and Dubai and hold official meetings with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum," the statement said.

As Herzog said before his flight, his visit, which will last until January 31, was made possible by the fact that in September 2020 in Washington, the Israeli side signed documents on normalizing relations with the UAE and Bahrain with the active mediation of the United States.

“I bring with me a message of peace to the entire region. Peace brings with it prosperity, progress and growth for the benefit of the peoples of the region,” his office circulated statements.
