Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev highly appreciates his interaction with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Interfax reported.

"We meet with the Russian president quite often both in Russia and in Azerbaijan. Therefore, our communication and meetings give a very positive boost to the development of our interaction, and political interaction is at a very high level," Aliyev told journalist Mikhail Gusman on the Rossiya-24 TV channel's Formula of Power program.

Aliyev said he was working closely with Putin on cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. "I think it is a model of cooperation between neighbors. And Russia appreciates very much that there are more than 330 schools with education in Russian in Azerbaijan, and branches of leading Russian universities, and quite a rich cultural program," he said.

"We are in constant contact and work as close friends and partners," he added.
