There is a need to go with the option of radical solutions to ensure border security and carry out effective service. Tigran Abrahamyan, an MP from the opposition "With Honor" Faction in the National Assembly of Armenia and a security expert, wrote this on Facebook Monday morning. He added as follows:
"The border protection/defense models which existed before the 44-day [Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)] war [in the fall of 2020] will either not work or will work very inefficiently in these conditions.
The priority task of ensuring border security is not the [military] tent/shack/stone shelter discourse, but what kind of a baseline possibility you have when carrying out combat duty, switching to defense, carrying out counterattacking or attacking action? How do you ensure the course of the battle of the military base—from intelligence, infrastructure to logistics, rear support, safe movements, etc.?
The [Armenian border protection] way chosen today is wrong in terms of model, ideology, and the [respective] changes are inertial."
