YEREVAN. – After his previous visit to the region, his impression is that it is a region very rich in natural and human resources and potential. Alexander Schallenberg, the visiting Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs, stated about this at Wednesday’s joint news conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
Commenting on the question addressed to his Armenian colleague about the "red lines" for Armenia in establishing relations with Azerbaijan, Schallenberg noted that "red lines" do not contribute to the development of the region.
The Austrian FM noted that as EU representatives, the Austrians want the region to be stable and prosperous, where people will see prospects again.
He noted that the last elections that they witnessed are about the fact that people voted for the future, economic development, separation of powers, that is very encouraging, and he would like to see more in the region, and the EU is ready to help—if it can do something.
The Austrian FM added that talked about interconnectedness—be it railways, roads or electricity networks—, this is something the EU can help in the 3+1 format, and they are ready to do that.
