The 911 Crisis Management Center of the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations received a total of 1,443,236 calls in 2021, the head of the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Arsen Mkrtchyan said.

His remarks came during the meeting with journalists on February 2.

According to him, the calls came from all regions of the country, including Yerevan.

"That's about 200,000 fewer than in 2020. There were 14,875 emergencies and incidents in the country, of which 11,435 were man-made, 604 were natural, and 2,836 were bio-social," Mkrtchyan said.

At the same time, despite the reduction of emergencies and incidents, a significant increase in deaths and casualties could not be avoided.

"There were 5,570 deaths in 2021, 2,293 more than in 2020. In addition, 196,641 people were injured in various accidents in 2021, 23,483 more than in 2020. The 92% increase in deaths and 94% in casualties is due to the coronavirus, since the pandemic is also considered an emergency event," explained the ministry representative.
