A specific date of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Turkey for talks with the country's leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has not yet been agreed, TASS reported, citing the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

According to Peskov, both sides are interested in the meeting taking place as soon as the epidemiological situation and schedules of the two presidents allow.

On 26 January, Erdogan said that he had invited the Russian leader to visit Turkey. He also reiterated Ankara's readiness to host the presidents of Russia and Ukraine so that they could continue their journey to restore an atmosphere of peace.

Peskov confirmed that Putin gratefully accepted the invitation. At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman pointed out that Erdogan's proposal was specifically about bilateral contacts.

On Thursday, the Turkish president also expressed hope that the Russian leader would visit the republic after his trip to China. On 4 February, Putin will attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
