The option of having a joint candidate is also being discussed, the general situation is also discussed, we are discussing the matter in a broad spectrum, we are not looking in a narrow domain. Opposition "Armenia" Faction MP Aram Vardevanyan, who is a lawyer by profession, told this to reporters Thursday in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, when asked about whether the NA opposition factions will nominate a presidential candidate.
Vardevanya noted that during this period, the two parliamentary opposition factions—"Armenia" and "With Honor"—had adopted joint positions in a number of cases, and therefore he sees no reason not to take such an approach this time as well.
"The names of specific candidates [from the opposition], etc., are not under discussion domain at this phase," he added.
The opposition MP noted that according to the Constitution of Armenia, a five-day timeframe is given for whether or not nominating a presidential candidate, and that they will observe that timeframe.
