The Azerbaijani side has not given any substantial response to Armenia's proposals and has rejected them, the spokesman of Armenian Foreign Minister Vahan Hunanyan informed Armenpress.

He commented on Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov's statements that the Armenian side put forward preconditions, stressing that Armenia has no legal, political or moral right to put any conditions on border demarcation.

"The Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of Russia and the President of Azerbaijan signed a statement in Sochi on November 26, 2021, which is public and available on the Internet. This statement clearly states that the leaders of the three countries have agreed to take steps to improve stability and security on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and to work towards the creation of a bilateral Commission on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, followed by its demarcation.

It follows from the statement signed by the three leaders that the delimitation and demarcation commission should be preceded by agreements on steps to improve security on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and their implementation. This is also logical because it is difficult to imagine demarcation work on a border where ceasefire violations occur every day. The Republic of Armenia, being interested in the full implementation of the agreements, has formulated its ideas on their implementation.

The Azerbaijani side did not give any meaningful response, but rejected them, instead offering options for the implementation of the agreements of the leaders of the three countries. Calling Armenian proposals a "precondition," and then giving them moral, political and legal assessments has nothing to do with the aforementioned process," Hunanyan said.

“The Republic of Armenia reaffirms its commitment to the agreements reached, which has been repeatedly stated publicly by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. We should also note that Armenia has also submitted proposals to the Azerbaijani side on the opening of roads. As of today no response has been received from the Azerbaijani side to these proposals. Armenia is ready to start implementing those proposals as soon as possible," the spokesman concluded.
