The Turkish parliament has ratified the "Shushi Declaration" on military cooperation with Azerbaijan, RIA Novosti reported.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani legislature had ratified this declaration on allied relations with Turkey.

The "Shushi Declaration," which earlier was submitted for debates at the foreign affairs committee of the Turkish Parliament, was lauded by this committee and was tabled for debates at the Turkish parliament floor "as a historically important document."

The "Shushi Declaration,"—which was signed by Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev of Turkey and Azerbaijan, respectively, on June 15 last year—in particular, states that the two countries will act together in the event of a threat or aggression by a third country.

The declaration notes also that, "The parties will continue their joint efforts to modernize, in accordance with modern requirements, the armed forces of the two brotherly countries."
