Belarus was ready for military action on the border with Poland because of the possible actions of NATO, President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko told TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov. A recording of their conversation was published on the Soloviev Live YouTube channel.

Solovyov asked Lukashenko whether he had a feeling that NATO had a plan to send a peacekeeping contingent to Belarus to save the Polish population living in the republic. In response, the Belarusian president said that he did not speculatively rule out such a possibility.

The aggravation of relations between Warsaw and Minsk occurred as a result of the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border, which began in 2021. In autumn, thousands of migrants from the Middle East tried to enter the European Union (EU) from Belarus, but the Polish border guard prevented them from breaking through the cordons. The authorities of Western countries blamed Minsk and personally the Belarusian president for the crisis.
