CSTO says build-up of NATO forces near borders creates threat to entire organization

The build-up of NATO military activity in neighboring territories not only poses a threat to Belarus and Russia, but also negatively affects the security of the entire Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said Secretary General of the organization Stanislav Zas at the conference on Wednesday.

"On the western borders of the CSTO zone of responsibility, there is a significant increase in NATO military groupings, the development of military infrastructure in adjacent territories,” he said.

"Military activity is on the rise, in fact the militarization of the whole region is going on. This not only poses a threat to Belarus and Russia, but also negatively affects the security of our entire organization, the entire CSTO," he added.

Zas added the crisis response working group was created within the framework of the CSTO after the peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan.
