The Czech Republic has begun easing coronavirus restrictions by removing the requirement to show a certificate confirming vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 in order to use services and attend public events, the AP reported.

As of 10 February, Czechs will no longer require a COVID-19 medical pass to enter bars, restaurants, cafes and hairdressing salons, as well as sporting and cultural events.

At the same time, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said his government would lift additional measures to fight the coronavirus later this month, depending on the development of the pandemic.

Health Minister Vlastimil Valek said that up to 5,000 people will be allowed to attend concerts, sporting events and other events with seating from 19 February, up from the current 1,000. For other gatherings, the limit will increase from 100 to 500.

The government had earlier decided to abolish compulsory coronavirus testing in schools and companies.
