Norway will increase its contribution to the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence in Lithuania by 50-60 troops due to the tense security situation in and around Ukraine, Reuters reports.

Russia’s large-scale build-up of positions around Ukraine and demands on the United States and Europe have changed the security situation in Europe, Defense Secretary Odd Roger Enoksen said.

This also applies to Norway, and we are closely monitoring the situation, he added.

The troops will remain in Lithuania for the first three months and their stay may be extended.
