Russian and German leaders Vladimir Putin and Olaf Scholz have been holding talks for two hours, RIA Novosti reported.

First, they have talked at the oval table, then the talks turned into a working breakfast. After the meeting the leaders will talk to the press.

According to Deutsche Welle, when meeting with Putin, Scholz said he was happy for the opportunity of a face-to-face meeting to resolve the conflict. He noted the importance of resolving relations between the states through dialogue.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin said that the main topics of the talks would be current issues on the bilateral and international agenda, including issues related to the provision of long-term, legally recorded security guarantees to Russia and the settlement of the internal Ukrainian conflict.

Putin's spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said that the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would also be one of the topics of the meeting.
