Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has dissolved the Serbian National Assembly (parliament) and set early elections for 3 April, TV channel N1 reported.

The politician made the decision on the basis of the Serbian constitution and the law, as well as on the proposal of the government.

He called the population of Serbia to turn out and show the country’s democratic capacities, that plans can be implemented in a civilized manner, adding that he wishes that the election winners will lead the country in the best possible way.

A referendum on constitutional amendments was held in January. It was due to the demand of the European Union for Belgrade to reform the justice system. After the changes were approved, Brussels promised to speed up the process of European integration.
