Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced Wednesday he tested positive for COVID-19, TASS reported.

“My test result came back positive for COVID-19 today,” he wrote on Twitter.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on 5 February that he and his wife had been tested positive for the omicron coronavirus strain. The president later said he was continuing to work remotely because doctors had confirmed a mild course of the disease. Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, who accompanied the Turkish leader on a visit to Kyiv said he had also contracted the coronavirus.

The Turkish leader announced last week that he had recovered and was visiting the UAE.
