Azerbaijan's national air carrier AZAL paid about 32,000 euros to Armenia for air navigation services, the press service of the Civil Aviation Committee told Sputnik Armenia.

Azerbaijan Airlines began using Armenian airspace for passenger flights from Baku to Nakhijevan on 6 October.

The press release states that from 6 October 2021 to 31 December 2021, the Company paid EUR 31,901.77 through the central routing fees office of international organization EUROCONTROL for the provision of air navigation services to AZAL Airlines.

According to calculations, Azerbaijan charges about 17,000 euros per month to Iranian trucks passing through the Goris-Kapan highway in the Syunik region. In many cases, this amount is compensated by Armenian importers.

Earlier, it was confirmed to Sputnik Armenia that all airlines flying through Armenian airspace, including AZAL, pay for air navigation services for flights.
