The residents displaced from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) are carrying out a picket in downtown Yerevan—at Republic Square, and outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

They demand to be given refugee status because they no longer see any other way out of the situation they are in.

These displaced people of Artsakh are protesting against the recent decision by the government of Armenia, and which envisages providing state support from Armenia to families displaced from Artsakh as a result of the 44-day war in the fall of 2020, to purchase real estate or to build a private residential building—and with a mortgage.

"They tell us, 'We are giving [you] a loan at 12% [interest rate].' I do not want a loan, I want my house," said, in particular, a woman who was displaced from Shushi, Artsakh.

Also, she appealed to the international community and said: "You have been silent for 44 days. Why are you silent now? And now they [i.e., the Azerbaijanis] are threatening the president of Artsakh that they will steal [him]. What will happen to us then?”
