The Republic of Armenia Ministry of Foreign Affairs (RA MFA) has no information about the taking of any Armenian citizens prisoner during the current military operations in Ukraine.

"We inform that the RA Embassy in Kyiv has not received information from the Ukrainian authorities about the taking of any citizen of the Republic of Armenia prisoner," reads the MFA response to a written inquiry of Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The footage showing captured—and assumedly Donetsk Armenian—Hayk Tsaturyan was disseminated on social and mass media. Judging by the footage, the man is seriously wounded in the head. People around him demand that he say, "Glory to Ukraine." But since this man finds it difficult to speak, a voice in the background immediately demands, "shoot [him]...".

Such a treatment of captives is not only a gross violation of the international Humanitarian Charter, but also a reminder of how the Azerbaijanis treated the captured Armenians during and after the  Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war in the fall of 2020.
