The pressure of sanctions from a number of European countries or the United States cannot ensure the isolation of a country like Russia. Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian president, told reporters on Saturday, TASS reported.
"Of course, there is a suspension of relations, reduction of economic relations, various restrictive measures are being introduced in the [Russian] economy by a number of countries—European countries, the United States, Canada, Japan, and a number of other countries. [But] this does not mean Russia is isolated. The world is too big for Europe and America to isolate a country, and even more so a country as big as Russia," said the Kremlin spokesman.
Peskov added that the current situation in the Russian economy is unusual, and that plans are being developed to assist the Russian economy—including daily consultations with the Russian government and President Vladimir Putin.
According to the Russian presidential spokesman, the current state of the country’s economy will be replaced by rapid economic growth, and foreign companies will still return to the Russian market and will be interested in filling the gap.
"Russia has been, is, and will be a country seeking mutually beneficial relations with foreign business, which seeks investment appeal. Yes, it is difficult to talk about investment appeal now, but times are changing fast. And these times will be replaced by a time of rapid economic growth," he said.
According to Dmitry Peskov, the time will come when foreign companies "will return to the Russian market again and will be more than interested in bringing back what they missed and restoring their positions [in Russia]."
