President of the European Council Charles Michel has said that the European Union will not finance the supply of combat aircraft to Ukraine, but did not rule out that general EU funds could go to finance spare parts and equipment for the Ukrainian air force, RIA Novosti reported.

European funds will not go to finance the supply of combat aircraft to Ukraine. At the same time, these funds will complement the bilateral efforts of a number of member states that are pondering the possibility of supplying equipment and spare parts for use by the air force, Michel told Le Journal du Dimanche.

The head of EU diplomacy reported on possible deliveries of combat aircraft to Ukraine.

Earlier, the EU had officially decided to finance the supply of 450 million euros worth of weapons and 50 million euros worth of related materials and equipment to Ukrainian troops.
