Chinese President Xi Jinping, in a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, discussed the situation in Ukraine, saying that it was a matter of concern, and also expressed regret over the hostilities, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese leader told his Western colleagues about the need to respect the sovereignty of all states and take into account their security concerns. In addition, during the talks with his colleagues, the head of China stressed that preventing the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and preventing the situation from getting out of control remain priorities.

Xi Jinping called on the leaders of France and Germany to jointly support the peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv, as well as to exercise maximum restraint and prevent a humanitarian crisis. He added that Beijing has already put forward a humanitarian initiative and is ready to provide the Ukrainian side with the necessary humanitarian assistance.
