In the capital Prague, President Milos Zeman of the Czech Republic presented well-known Czech Armenian businessman Gevorg Avetisyan the First Degree Medal for Services, which he was awarded last year.

Avetisyan is the first Armenian in the history of independent Czech Republic to receive such a high award, reported the Prague-based Oragir monthly.

About 60 individuals were awarded the highest Czech awards during the solemn ceremony.

The Ambassador of Armenia to the Czech Republic, Ashot Hovakimian, who also attended the ceremony, noted that the awarding of Gevorg Avetisyan is also a pride for Armenians, and that he lauds the contribution of this Armenian businessman not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the development of Czech-Armenian relations and strengthening of ties with Armenia.
