I do not think that there have been radical changes in the functions of or measures taken by the Russian peacekeeping mission, which Azerbaijan could be objectively dissatisfied with. Tigran Abrahamyan, an MP from the opposition "With Honor" Faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia and a security expert, told this to reporters Wednesday in the NA.

"Also, I see that the Azerbaijani propaganda machine and the media have launched a campaign against the commander of the Russian mission. This generally fits in with the situation in Ukraine and its direct or indirect impact, which is having a particularly acute reaction in Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)]. In this situation, it should be borne in mind that the Azerbaijani and Turkish press, which operates in harmony, works entirely under the logic of anti-Russian propaganda. The moves that are being made today are aimed also at discrediting Russia's role in Artsakh and the South Caucasus. This means that the deeper the crisis over Ukraine gets, the more noticeable these attacks on Russia will be—at various levels," he said.

Abrahamyan noted that the recent statements of the Armenian foreign ministry are linked more to the incidents taking place in the direction of Yeraskh village of Armenia because the Armenian state agencies try to refrain from making statements about Artsakh.

"I mean first of all the foreign ministry, the head of the government. In this case, I do not think that the proposals he voices by way of the Armenian foreign ministry—in particular, on the 'mirror withdrawal' of [the Armenian and Azerbaijani armed] forces—can solve any problem at this stage because the Azerbaijani actions are in a completely different logic; and this is also a signal to Armenia and Artsakh that there may be new aggravations of various nature in the near future," the Armenian opposition MP emphasized.
