The majority of the Ukrainian military airfields where the main part of combat aviation was based are out of service, the Russian Defence Ministry's representative, Major-General Igor Konashenkov said, TASS reported.

According to him, 90% of the Ukrainian military airfields where the main part of the military aviation was based have been taken out of use.

"There are practically no trained Ukrainian pilots of the first and second class left."

 "At the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had up to 250 serviceable combat aircraft and helicopters. The Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed 89 combat aircraft and 57 helicopters on the ground and in the air," he said.

He added that Ukraine's air defence system was now incapable of significantly countering Russian aviation.  "Eighty-one Ukrainian air defence radar posts have been destroyed, leading to the loss of combat control of Ukraine's aviation and air defence. At present, the air defence system is only focal in nature and is incapable of significantly countering Russian aviation," he said.

Ukraine receives information on the air situation from E-3A aircraft which are on duty in Polish airspace.

During the special operation in Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces destroyed 137 S-300, Buk M-1 and S-125 anti-aircraft missile systems.
