Kiev asked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for help in organizing a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The statement was made by the deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Ihor Zhovkva, on the air of the Tagesschau program of the German TV channel ARD.

In Zhovkva's opinion, international partners should help to organize this meeting, during which "many aspects could be discussed", the UNIAN news agency reported.

Putin and Scholz had a phone conversation during which they discussed Ukraine.
