The number of children who have been forced to leave Ukraine since February 24 has risen to one million, Catherine M. Russell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), said on Twitter.

Earlier, a representative of the UN Children's Fund, James Elder, said that in one week the number of refugee children was at around 500,000.

In just 2 weeks. One million children left Ukraine, Russell noted.

She added that UNICEF, together with partners, continues to provide assistance to children and mothers who are in conflict zones in Ukraine: the organization will supply medicines to 22 hospitals in five districts of the country, this assistance will cover 20,000 children and mothers.
