Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was tested positive for COVID-19 a day after a trip to Istanbul, AP reported.

On Sunday, Mitsotakis held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, who is considered the spiritual leader of the world's Orthodox Christians.

Mitsotakis said on Instagram that his daily test for the coronavirus was positive, so he will work from home.

Mitsotakis held talks over lunch with Erdogan in Istanbul on Sunday at a rare meeting between the leaders of the two neighboring countries. Relations between Greece and Turkey have been strained over a number of issues, including territorial and energy exploration rights in the Mediterranean Sea.

They discussed bilateral and international relations as well as the Ukrainian crisis, the Turkish president's public relations office reported.
