Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Turkey David Zalkaliani and Mevlut Cavusoglu had a phone talk to discuss developments in the region, the ongoing war in Ukraine and the resulting difficult security environment, the Georgian MFA reported

“In this context, the importance of Turkey's active efforts to find ways to ceasefire and resolve the current conflict through diplomacy was especially noted.

During the telephone conversation, the security challenges facing Georgia, including the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, were discussed in detail. For its part, the Turkish side reaffirmed the Turkish side's unwavering support for Georgia's territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspirations and condemned the illegitimate so-called parliamentary elections in occupied Abkhazia.

The ministers also discussed the agenda for bilateral cooperation, including the possibility of holding a high-level strategic council. The ministers expressed their readiness to continue an intensive dialogue and carry out bilateral visits,” the Georgian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
