Kyiv has already been given to understand that the "open door" policy of NATO does not apply to Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

His remarks came during his online speech at the Joint Expeditionary Force in London, UNIAN reported.

"It is clear that Ukraine is not a member of NATO, we understand that, we are adequate people. For years we have heard about open doors, but now we have also heard that we cannot enter there, and we have to admit it. I am glad that our people are beginning to understand this and count on themselves and on our partners who help us," Zelenskyy said.

He once again called for the closure of the skies over Ukrainian territory, but also noted that the likelihood of a positive decision is low.  "Ukraine now does not claim to activate Article 5 of the NATO treaty. We always say that our skies need to be protected in the same way as the Alliance skies,”  he said.
