Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan attended the 40th Extraordinary Session of Francophone Ministerial Conference in Paris on Wednesday, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry informed.

The Armenian Foreign Minister drew attention to Azerbaijan's actions to escalate the situation in the South Caucasus in the current geopolitical environment.

The sides presented Azerbaijan's actions aimed at creating a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, in particular the facts of preventing the restoration of vital infrastructure, shelling of civilians, and exerting psychological pressure on the population.

The Armenian Foreign Minister highlighted the need for the heads of the member states and governments of the international organization to clearly and targeted reaction to the Azerbaijani authorities in order to avoid destabilization attempts in the region.

It was noted that Armenia is committed to a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship and is ready to negotiate a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan without preconditions.

In his speech Minister Mirzoyan underscored that despite numerous challenges, from the coronavirus epidemic to the 44-day war in 2020, Armenia remains committed to a consistent process of reforms based on democracy, protection of human rights, rule of law, and the fight against corruption.
