The presidents of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan discussed the Ukrainian crisis.

According to the Kremlin, the sides discussed various aspects of the development of the situation around the special military operation to protect Donbass. Vladimir Putin also informed the Russian and Ukrainian representatives about the negotiations.

In the conversation, the humanitarian component was highlighted. Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed gratitude for assistance in the evacuation of Turkish citizens from the territory of Ukraine, as well as the safe exit of ships with Turkish cargoes from Russian ports in the waters of the Sea of Azov.

"The issues of the bilateral agenda were discussed in detail. A positive assessment of the results of the recent talks between the Foreign Ministers in Antalya and Moscow was given. The sides expressed intention to further develop mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, including the implementation of strategic projects in the energy sector. It was agreed to continue contacts at various levels," the statement said.
