Schlumberger NV said late on Friday that it has decided to immediately suspend new investment and technology deployment to the oilfield services company’s Russia operations—and in response to US sanctions over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, Reuters reported.

“We continue to actively monitor this dynamic situation and will fulfil any existing activity in full compliance with applicable international laws and sanctions,” Schlumberger Chief Executive Officer Olivier Le Peuch said in a statement.

US oilfield services company Halliburton Co also said, earlier on Friday, it has suspended Russia operations.

Halliburton said it immediately suspended future business and would wind down its operations in Russia after earlier ending shipments of sanctioned parts and products to the country.

Energy companies BP PLC, Shell, Equinor ASA, and Exxon Mobil already have suspended business or announced plans to exit their Russia operations.
