US President Joe Biden the will travel to Poland on Friday to discuss how America and its allies are responding to the war in Ukraine, the White House announced late on Sunday, Financial Times reported.

Biden will go to Warsaw, the Polish capital, after attending NATO, EU, and G7 meetings in Brussels in his first trip to Europe since Russia invaded Ukraine last month.

Jen Psaki, White House press secretary, said Biden would meet Polish president Andrzej Duda in Warsaw to discuss how the US, “alongside our allies and partners, is responding to the humanitarian and human rights crisis that Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked war on Ukraine has created”.

Biden is planning to skip Ukraine despite invitations to visit from the Ukrainian government. Psaki tweeted on Sunday that Biden had “no plans” to visit the country.

Biden will on Monday host a call with French president Emmanuel Macron, German chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian prime minister Mario Draghi, and UK prime minister Boris Johnson to coordinate their response to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
