Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida protested Russia's decision to suspend negotiations on a peace treaty, CNN reported.

This whole situation was created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Russia’s reaction to transferring this to Japanese-Russian relations is highly unjustified and absolutely unacceptable. Japan would like to protest this move,”Kishida said at a parliamentary meeting.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry Moscow did not intend to continue negotiations on concluding a peace treaty with a state that occupies an unfriendly position.

Kishida said last week that Japan had decided to withdraw Russia's most-favoured-nation trade treatment. He also said that Japan will continue to work closely with the G7 countries to strengthen financial sanctions against Russia.
