King Harald V of Norway, who celebrated his 85th birthday in February, has tested positive for COVID-19, the press office of the royal court said on Tuesday.
The monarch has mild symptoms and will spend the coming days on sick leave.
The duties of the king will temporarily be performed by Crown Prince Haakon.
