Currently, humanitarian assistance in Syria is aimed at supporting early recovery and reconstruction projects, maintaining the operation of water, electricity, education and medical facilities, as well as providing basic services, as required by UN Security Council Resolution 2585, said Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the world organization Dai Bing at an open meeting of the Security Council on political and humanitarian issues in Syria, Xinhua reports.

According to it, China opposes the creation of political prerequisites for reconstruction and humanitarian assistance.

The Chinese side welcomes the Syrian government, UN agencies and humanitarian partners to continuously increase the scale and frequency of cross-border humanitarian aid, and calls on the relevant parties to provide favorable conditions and security guarantees for the rescue teams. He stressed that the oil resources of Syria belong to the Syrian people, and military personnel stationed illegally in Syria must immediately stop the theft and smuggling of oil.

Eleven years of war have shown that a "Syrian-led and Syrian-owned" political process is the only way to end the Syrian crisis, Dai said, adding that China urges all parties to use the current opportunity to exchange views frankly and constructively, build mutual trust and reach consensus. The Syrian political process cannot be used as a pretext for the application of unilateral coercive measures, the diplomat stressed.

China hopes that more and more Arab countries will resume dialogue, communication and cooperation with Syria, and continue to support Arab countries in their joint development within the Arab League, Dai said.
