The Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Azerbaijan has accused the MOD of Russia of "lying."
The MODs of the two countries exchanged statements Sunday.
The Russian MOD had announced the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from the Parukh village area of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), whereas Baku had announced that its forces had not withdrawn from the area.
But that statement was not enough for the Azerbaijani authorities, and therefore a second—and extremely harsh—statement was released.
Baku went even further in this statement, and "reminded" Moscow that there is no administrative unit called "Nagorno-Karabakh" in Azerbaijan.
Thus, Azerbaijan not only confirmed its policy of non-fulfillment of the trilateral statements, but also the distortion of their content, and, in fact, the de facto rejection of the recently signed declaration on allied cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan.
