Turkey is ready to become one of the guarantor states of Ukraine, Turkish President Erdogan said, Anadolu reported.

According to him, Ankara welcomes the initiative, but a detailed analysis is required.  He said Ankara expects the bloodshed and war to stop as soon as possible, adding that a temporary ceasefire is also important

At the same time, Erdogan expressed skepticism about Ukraine's acceptance into the European Union.

"Because many EU countries, with the exception of a number of countries, should take this process [Kiev's application] more seriously. At the same time, according to reports, the Russian president perceived the topic of Ukraine's membership in the EU positively. During my conversation with Putin, I will try to hear it from him personally, which will allow for a clearer analysis," Erdogan said.

He complained that the application for EU membership has been pending in Brussels since 1963. "All the EU is doing is delaying dialogue with Ankara on this issue," Erdoğan said.
