The Pentagon plans to order and send to Ukraine 10 Switchblade UAVs, the latest model armed with anti-tank warheads, in addition to previously announced deliveries of a less powerful version, Bloomberg reports.

The Switchblade-600 is part of a $300 million lethal military aid.

The new 50-pound model, made by California-based Simi Valley, can fly more than 39 kilometers and stay in the air for 40 minutes before attacking with an anti-tank warhead. The drone operator uses a touch-screen tablet fire control system with the ability to manually pilot a loitering missile.

An early version of the bomber drone has been in service with US special forces since it was secretly sent to Afghanistan in 2010 to use against the Taliban. Army officials described it as a flying shotgun.
