The third President of Armenia and former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) chairman Serzh Sargsyan will take part in the rally to be held today at Freedom Square in Yerevan, RPA vice-chairman Armen Ashotyan told a press conference Tuesday.

"He will attend not only as the chairman of one of the organizing forces—the Republican Party of Armenia—, not only as a person with a huge effort for the security of Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] and Armenia, but will attend also as a concerned citizen of the Republic of Armenia. A citizen who cannot sit at home when he sees what is happening around our two Armenian units.

One may ask why he did not attend the previous rallies. That question is legitimate. Imagine how grave the situation is that President Serzh Sargsyan not only organizes a struggle against the current authorities and for Artsakh, but also attends this rally. The last time such a grave situation existed was probably when the three presidents—[Levon] Ter-Petrosyan, [Robert] Kocharyan, and [Serzh] Sargsyan—met," Ashotyan added.

This rally is organized by the parliamentary opposition "Armenia" and "With Honor" blocs, and it will kick off at 6:30pm.
