YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: The [former ruling] RPA [party] had provided the core of yesterday's rally [in Yerevan]—although the [parliamentary opposition] "Armenia" bloc also had made no less effort.

But [“Armenia” bloc leader and second President] Robert Kocharyan's absence [from this rally] and noticeable passivity are slowly pushing him out of the body of opposition leaders.

Instead, [RPA chairman and third President] Serzh Sargsyan—capable of a long struggle, hard-working, consistent—is slowly coming to the fore, and yesterday his presence in the crowd of the [Freedom] square [rally] was quite symbolic.

Although many believe that [PM] Nikol Pashinyan will stay [in power] and the opposition will not succeed as long as the former presidents are in the arena, they are convinced that the situation in the country will change when they announce leaving the political arena and giving up their place to the youth.
