The exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine did not take place on Wednesday, Moscow was ready to hand over 251 people, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Defense Management Center said, Interfax reported.

"The Kiev authorities have been disrupting the exchange of prisoners of war for a long time, and on pre-agreed terms. The prisoner-of-war exchange planned for today has also been disrupted by the Ukrainian side," he said.

According to him, the list of 251 servicemen declared for the exchange was repeatedly specified during the day, later reduced to 38 servicemen, and today since morning the Ukrainian side without explanation also rejected.

"At the same time, the preparation of Ukrainian prisoners of war on a large list of 251 Ukrainian servicemen was carried out in full, including their delivery to the original area for the exchange," he added.
