The Austrian government on Thursday announced its decision to expel four Russian diplomats because their activities “did not correspond to their diplomatic status” amid tensions over the military invasion of Ukraine, Europe & World News reported.

The Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a message published on its Twitter account, indicated that it had decided to “revoke the diplomatic status” of three employees of the embassy in Vienna and one employee of the consulate in Salzburg.

Likewise, he stressed that all of them had been declared “persona non grata” and demanded that they leave the territory of Austria on April 12 as a deadline.

A number of European countries—including Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and Sweden—have expelled Russian diplomats, and Moscow has pledge to respond accordingly.
