Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjarto again rejected any sanctions against Russian oil and gas.

After Hungary received the first batch of nuclear fuel from Russia for its Paks nuclear power plant, Szijjártó said sanctions on nuclear-related activities were also a "red line".

According to him, the consignment of fuel arrived through the airspace of Belarus, Poland and Slovakia to Hungary with the approval of all three countries, since nuclear energy is not subject to European Union sanctions.

Hungary wants to expand the 2 gigawatt Paks nuclear power plant with two Russian-made VVER reactors, each with a capacity of 1.2 gigawatts.
