President Vahagn Khachaturyan on Friday received Christine Weigand,  the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Representative to Armenia.

Khachaturyan noted that Armenia lauds the role of UNICEF in protecting the rights of children in the country, and solving the tasks of improving their health and living conditions.

The President attached special importance to the implementation of programs aimed at children who are displaced as a result of the recent war in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), as well as those living in the Karabakh conflict-affected communities and in the border areas.

In addition, UNICEF's efforts to introduce inclusive education in Armenia’s schools and preschools were welcomed.

The sides exchanged views on the implementation of joint programs, especially on education.

Also, the interlocutors expressed confidence that in the future—and taking into account Armenia's priorities and goals—UNICEF will work closely with the country’s relevant government agencies to protect the rights and well-being of children, adolescents, and youth.
